Public Benefit Corporation
A Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) is a type of for-profit corporate entity that includes positive impact on society, workers, the community, and the environment in addition to profit as its legally defined goals. Here are the key factors of a Public Benefit Corporation:
- Purpose: A PBC must have a purpose of creating a material positive impact on society and the environment, taken as a whole, from the business and operations of the corporation.
- Accountability: Directors and officers are required to balance the financial interests of shareholders with the best interests of those materially affected by the corporation's conduct, including societal and environmental considerations.
- Transparency: PBCs must report on their overall social and environmental performance using a comprehensive, credible, independent, and transparent third-party standard. This report is often made available to the public.
- Stakeholder Interests: In addition to profit, PBCs consider the effects of their decisions on stakeholders such as employees, customers, the community, and the environment.
- Legal Protection: The PBC structure provides legal protection to directors and officers to pursue a mission and consider non-financial interests when making decisions, even during potential sale scenarios.
These factors help ensure that a Public Benefit Corporation can focus on long-term sustainability and ethical practices without sacrificing profitability.

Triathlon Obsession
From a single spark of intrigue to a blazing passion, our founder's triathlon journey started with one daring challenge. What began as a local race quickly spiraled into over 10 triathlons in a single season!

Joining the Herbivore Revolution
When our founder set sights on an Ironman, he didn't just switch gears- he switched diets! Trading in steaks for salads and burgers for broccoli, Brian embraced a vegetarian lifestyle.
Powered by plants, fueled by passion, and boosted by wheatgrass juice, he proved that Ironman greatness can grow straight from the garden.
At MAKA, we're all about going green!

Indoor Farmer
Brian inadvertently, and to much distress of his wife, turned his home into a wheatgrass wonderland! Tired of store-bought greens and expensive juice shops, he kick-started his own personal indoor farm, filling his basement with lush, vibrant wheatgrass trays.
But as his jungle thrived, so did his curiosity—leading him to search for easier ways to consume this superfood...
2019
Formulating
Brian started concocting wheatgrass beverages in his kitchen, mixing and blending like a pro. But the real test? Sneaking his green elixirs into Russell's dive bar. With unsuspecting customers as his guinea pigs, Brian's experiment went from kitchen counter to bar counter, turning skeptics into health nuts one sip at a time.
Cheers to surprising twists and green drinks!
2020
Prototyping
Brian began prototyping his wheatgrass drinks by slapping MAKA label stickers over real products, turning ordinary bottles into "his" secret green elixirs.
As friends and family sipped his creations, Brian perfected his formula, and iterated the branding, proving that with a little stealth and a lot of passion, even the wildest dreams can take root.
Here's to innovation, one sticker at a time!

Key Accounts
Brian and Russell's journey began on the sunny streets of Southern California and humid days of D.C., where they charmed retailers one store at a time.
Their hustle paid off big time, catching the eye of Sprouts Farmers Market and The Fresh Market. With these major players on board, MAKA's fresh, vibrant beverages quickly went from local favorites to nationwide sensations.
From SoCal/D.C. roots to coast-to-coast success, Brian and Russell are making waves and refreshing palates across the country!
